292. MissionCast – Organ Donor Sabbath

With Organ Donor Sabbath just around the corner we wanted to bring you James Arnold’s story. After months of rapidly deteriorating health James received a liver transplant at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis in July. The transplant was a success and he is getting stronger by the week. We are grateful to him for granting us this video interview at his church, the Friendship Christian Church, just north of Centralia, Missouri. 271. Medical VIM to Guatemala – Missouri United Methodist Church

Haiti

Volunteers in Mission Teams from Missouri United Methodist Church return to the same area of Guatemala each year. This year they sent a medical and a construction team. The construction team built a home. We visited with Dr. Jeremy Johnson, a member of the medical team, about their experience. We are grateful to the See family for inviting us into their home to learn about the need that many people have for organ donation.  Mike See has been on dialysis for a year now because of his kidney disease.  The dialysis takes 4 hours, 5 nights a week after both Mike and Joni have spent a full day at work.  The Missouri United Methodist congregation, in Columbia, was made aware of the need for a kidney donation and 5 members have stepped forward to offer one of their kidneys.  This MissionCast will be used as part of the sermon at Missouri UMC on National Organ Donor Sunday (2nd Sunday of November each year) and we offer it to your congregation to use on this special Sunday or on another Sunday that works for you.

219. MissionCast – Baby Grace Ministry – Buckner UMC

Baby Grace Ministry was born at the Buckner United Methodist Church in response to the needs of young mothers of their community.  Through the ministry young parents receive parenting education as well as diapers, clothing, bedding, toys and books all donated by contributing members of the community.  Everything they received is bundled up with a lot of spiritual blessings and a great deal of love.  For more information go to www.bucknerumc.com.  To support the ministry send contributions to the Missouri United Methodist Conference Office, 3601 Amron Court, Columbia, MO  65202.  Baby Grace is a Conference Advance Special and is listed on the form sent to all church treasurers every month.

213. MissionCast – Community Heath Outreach Ministry – Ludhiana Christian Medical College and Hospital

The Ludhiana Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, India, has an extensive program of taking health care to village and urban areas around the city of Ludhiana. Eye camps and dental camps are held in rural areas a good distances from Ludhiana. Recently the Missouri Conference Ludhiana Mission Ambassadors tagged along with the nursing and medical students as they served in the community health program. Sue Cobb, member of Church of the Shepherd, in St. Charles, wrote the scripte and narrated this MissionCast.
