194. MissionCast – Ludhiana Christian College of Nursing Students Share

One of the ways we have supported the Ludhiana Christian Medical College is by providing scholarships for nursing students.  Recently two congregations, Webster Groves UMC in St. Louis and Missouri UMC in Columbia have asked for some pictures or videos of current nursing students to help in raising funds for scholarships.  The result is MissionCast #194.  Max Marble, Director of the Office of Creative Ministries, was able to interview some students in September while attending the Ludhiana Christian Medical College Board meeting.  This MissionCast is 3 minutes long.  However longer versions are available with fuller interviews.

Rija Elizabeth Zachariah (pictured) was one of the nursing students interviewed.  For a $40 Thanksgiving gift or part of a congregational Christmas personal offering educate a Ludhiana Christian College of Nursing student for a week.  Or educate him or her for a month for just $160.  A gift or contribution of $1800 will give them a whole year at the Christian College of Nursing.    Please considering making a contribution to help Rija and other needy students. 171. MissionCast – Prayer & Worship at the Ludhiana Christian Medical College and Hospital

Ludhiana ChaplainsPrayer and worship is central at the Ludhiana Christian Medical College and Hospital in northwest India.  Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, all join in during the corridor rounds that the chaplains make every day.  You can support this ministry by becoming a “Friend of Ludhiana”  Just keep the ministry in your prayers and send $25 to Friends of Ludhiana, Office of Creative Ministries, Columbia, MO  65202 or join online at www.umocm.com  One hundred percent of your gift will go directly to Ludhiana for student scholarships and the healing ministry in the hospital.

159. MissionCast – Reaching Out In India (UMTV)

This touching UMTV mission video tells about a girl in India taking care of her father and young brother who have both tested positive for AIDS.  A local church here in the United States built the family a cinder block home which aids greatly in the health of the family.  See more of the UMTV mission videos at http://www.umtv.org

140. MissionCast – Ludhiana Christian Medical College and Hospital – India

As United Methodists we have a long historic relationship with the Ludhiana Christian Medical College and Hospital.  In the past we have sent missionary doctors and staff to Ludhiana to serve.  It was good visiting Ludhiana and getting a first had look as this incredible ministry of teaching and healing that is still a part of our United Methodist outreach.

103. Slumdog Ministry – Bombay Regional Conference – Street Children Ministry

Slumdog Millionaire

Life for most of the street children in the slums of Mumbai, India, defies description.  Slumdog, is the descriptive word used in the movie that has swept the Golden Globes, the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards and is nominated for 10 Academy Awards.  The movie gives us a glimpse into life of street children in those slums.  It is next to impossible to view the movie without wanting to reach out to them.  The Methodist Church in Mumbai, India is doing just that and so can you.You can support the slum ministry of the Methodist Bombay Regional Conference by giving to any of the following three General Advance Specials of the United Methodist Church.
