Faye Davis

Faye Davis, received the Robert and Martha Marble Mission Award, this year at Annual Conference.  She has been the inspiration for a lot of mission activity in and around the United Methodist Church in Noel, Missouri.  In this MissionCast Faye tells about how a trip to Louisiana to work on a home that had been destroyed turned into the Noel United Methodists adapting a survivor family, a whole series of mission trips, and the rebuilding of a home practically from scratch.  But it did not stop there.  Once back home they looked around in their community and started rebuilding in their backyard.  The Marble Mission Award was initiated by the West Conference Board of Global Ministries in 1993.  The successor Global Connection Team has continued to honor people with the award each year at Annual Conference.

St. Clair TeamAfter Katrina the St. Clair United Methodist congregation made a commitment to help the city of Slidell come back from the terrible destruction of the hurricane.  The church continues to send volunteers in mission teams to work on the homes of individuals and families still waiting to return to their homes. St. Clair also became a partner of the Aldersgate United Methodist congregation in Slidell and has been helping the church financially by funding continuing education for the church staff.  MissionCast was on hand when the Rev. John Williams, pastor of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church was the guest of the congregation in St. Clair. This video tells about the rewarding outreach of the St. Clair United Methodist Church in Slidell, Louisiana.

70. Churches Respond to the Flood of 2008 (2 min)

Sand BaggingOnce again the Mississippi River came out of it’s banks to cause massive flooding. MissionCast caught up with Rev. Jeannie Webdell, pastor of the Clarksville United Methodist Church, to tell about the situation there and in St. Peters, MissionCast found volunteers at Church of the Shepherd making 400 meals for disaster response volunteers working in Winnfield. While taping they were producing 7 sandwiches a minute but later had progressed to producing 12 a minute. The other churches that answered the emergency appeal from the district office to prepare 1400 meals were Wentzville United Methodist, Sunrise United Methodist and First United Methodist, in St. Charles.
