MissionCast – Ozzie Smith Goes to Bat for the Bridge<\/strong>

Called the Wizard of Oz for this amazing plays as short-stop for the St. Louis Cardinals, baseball\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Hall of Fame legend, Ozzie Smith went to bat for The Bridge.\u00c2\u00a0 Ozzie opened his downtown St. Louis restaurant to raise funds for Centenary United Methodist Church’s ministry with the homeless called the Bridge.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bridge provides a short-stop for food, community and support services to hundreds of St. Louis\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s homeless every week.\u00c2\u00a0 Ozzie was baseball\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s short-stop king so it was wonderful for him to lend his support to this ministry.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the Bridge, they understand that being without a home of one\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s own doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mean that you no longer share the basic needs and desires of everyday life.\u00c2\u00a0 It just means that it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s harder to meet those needs. The Bridge is open 60 hours each week to provide meals and services that will help to ease the burdens of downtown St. Louis\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 sojourners\u00e2\u20ac\u201cand to provide the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153step up\u00e2\u20ac\u009d that will help them get started on their journey home<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
