186. MissionCast – VIM Costa Rica to Blue Springs – First UMC, Blue Springs

Costa Rica Team

Blue Spring has been sending mission teams to Costa Rica for years.  This year they did something new.  The received a team of Costa Ricans to their church and community.  Jack Marker tells about the experience in this MissionCast.

185. MissionCast – Lake Creek Campmeeting Since 1834 – Lake Creek UMC

When at the Lake Creek United Methodist Church they say, “We’ve always had campmeeting,” they are not kidding.  Are there any other Methodist programs in Missouri that have been running continuously for 176 years?  Since 1834 the Lake Creek Campmeeting has been reaching out to their community to provide Bible School for their children and stirring preaching and Bible study for their youth and adults. Brent Hampy and Dan Page who started attending campmeeting as infants share the story of the Lake Creek Campmeeting in this MissionCast.   We want to thank Kevin Hoehns for providing us with the video footage of this year’s vacation bible school at campmeeting.

184. MissionCast – National Preparedness Month – Cameron UMC Is Prepared

September is National Preparedness Month. In this special edition of MissionCast we feature Cameron UMC. The congregation has been very intentional about preparedness and has reached out to the community with sheltering and feeding after disasters. In this MissionCast Rev. Paul Zimmerman walks us through their new edition showing how from the very beginning they had in mind making it useful to their community after disasters.

183. LLD – Lay Leadership Development – Missouri Conference

LLD




Leadership Development or LLD is one of the new and wonderful ministries taking shape in the Missouri Conference.  It is a part of the Health Church Initiative and runs parallel to Pastoral Leadership Development or PLD.   Lay members in congregations where the pastor is engaged in Pastoral Leadership Development may engage most of the same materials that the pastor is studying. The goal is to form an effective lay-clergy team in the congregation to bring about change what will result in the most fruitful ministry.  In this MissionCast Brian Hammons, Missouri Conference Lay Leader, tells about this exciting program which is requested by more and more lay persons.

182. MissionCast – Festival of Sharing Heifer International Projects – Mississippi & Nepal

Heifer International




Each year the Missouri Festival of Sharing promotes two projects for Heifer International.  In this MissionCast, Office of Creative Ministries staff member, Carol Oliver, tells about these two projects.  Carol serves as the Heifer International Coordinator for Missouri.  The local project this year is that of sending heifers from Missouri to needy farmers in Mississippi.  The international project is “Goats for Nepal.”  For more information call Carol at the Office of Creative Ministries.  Phone – 573-474-7155  Email – oliver@umocm.com
