361. Bartelsmeyers Become Costa Rica Missionaries

HaitiJoe and Martha Bartelsmeyers, members of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, have committed their next year or two to serving as Short Term United Methodist Missionaries at the Latin American Biblical Seminary in San Jose, Costa Rica. They will be working with Volunteers in Mission teams that will be building a new dormitory on campus. Over 25 teams from Missouri, including a cabinet team with Bishop Sherer, helped to build the buildings on the new campus originally and helped with organizing the books in the library. The Latin American Biblical Seminary is a beautiful place to serve. Student from all over Central and South American receive their degrees at this international seminary.
We wish Joe and Martha the best as they fly to Costa Rica, Tuesday, May 13, 2014. To organize a team to work with them in Costa Rica contact the Office of Creative Ministries. Phone 573-474-7155 / Email: info@umocm.com

Since 1997 the Missouri Conference Office of Creative Ministries has sent over 30 teams to Costa Rica to serve at the Latin American Biblical Seminary. The seminary prepares students for ministry from all of Central and South America. The current need is for teams to build married student apartments. Our most recent Volunteers in Mission team to serve on this project was led by Joe Bartelsmeyer. Joe shares their experience in this MissionCast and offers an invitation to others to serve. For information about this project contact Audry Phelps at the Office of Creative Ministries, 3009 David Drive, Columbia, MO 65202 / 573-474-7155 / phelps@umocm.com / www.umocm.com

The Missouri Conference has been invited to return to a favorite Volunteers in Mission site of the past.  Over the next two to three years we will be sending 10 VIM teams to build a married student housing unit for the Latin American Biblical Seminary, in San Jose, Costa Rica.  Audrey Phelps introduces the new project in this MissionCast.  There are four ways to join this project.  You can pray for its success; you can donate to the project ($30,000 is needed for the building supplies); you can join a VIM team (Audrey will lead one of the first ones in August) and you can lead a VIM team.  Audrey and about 300 volunteers from the Missouri Conference have served at the seminary in the past, including a cabinet team, led by Bishop Sherer.  To join this project call or email Audrey at phelps@umocm.com or 573-474-7155.
