165. MissionCast – Conversations On Religion & Race – First UMC, Webster Groves

The Missouri Conference Values Team reviewed a new program designed to initiate conversations on religion and race in congregations.Â Instead of organizing a workshop on how to implement this program in local churches the team decided that it would be better for a congregation to actually use the program and tell other congregations about their experience.Â First United Methodist Church, in Webster Groves, with great success, piloted this new program for our conference.Â This MissionCast is designed to give you a taste of what it was like.Â Rev. Michele Sue Shumake-Keller will be sharing her congregationâ€™s experience in detail during one of the workshops at Annual Conference.

Every four years United Methodist Women from all over the United States gather for an Assembly.Â In 2010 they came together in St. Louis, Missouri.Â This three minute MissionCast shows just a few of the highlights from 2010.

Mrs. Mai Gray who served Missouri and the General Church in so many ways died shortly after the 2010 Assembly after falling and receiving a head injury.Â As a former president of the Women’s Division of the General Board of Global Ministries she spoke at the Assembly.Â Click her picture or below to hear what she said.

163. MissionCast – Pay It Forward – St. James UMC, Kansas City

During Lent members of St. James United Methodist Church, were asked by their pastor, Dr. Emanuel Cleaver, III, to pay it forward. He gave 40 church members $40 each and asked them to go and make a difference in the life of someone in need. Results were wonderful. A Pay It Forward booklet shares testimonies from 45 church members. The church also prepared a DVD with two responses. 162. MissionCast – Dental Clinic – Court Street UMC

Court Street United Methodist Church, in Fulton, Missouri offers free dental screening to their community every year.Â The information is distributed in area schools by school nurses.Â Volunteer dentists come to the church and offer their services.Â This outreach ministry is sponsored by the United Methodist Women.Â
