LaFayette Park United Methodist Church is growing because it is involved in making a difference in the surrounding community. Church member, Frank Domke, after attending a class on the outward focused church felt challenged to do something. He started Bridge Bread. As Frank tells it in this MissionCast, Bridge Bread isn’t about making bread but instead about providing jobs and valuable skills to guests at the Bridge. The Bridge is a ministry with downtown St. Louis’ sojourners (homeless), housed in Centenary United Methodist Church. The Bridge feeds hundreds of sojourners each week and helps them with common needs. One of those needs is employment and that is where Bridge Bread comes in.

PET stands for personal energy transportation. A PET is a three-wheel hand cranked wheel chair for those who have lost the use of their legs. The PET ministry started in Columbia, Missouri, by Rev. Mel West. However, now PETs are produced in many locations.

Larry Reid started the PET production ministry in Dexter, Missouri. We are happy to be able to share with you a news spot on the ministry produced by KFVS-TV in Cape Girardeau. For information about how you can be a part of this ministry call the PET Project, in Columbia. Phone 573-886-7877. Lawson United Methodist Church prepared this video to help spread the word about Baby Grace Ministries which was started by two young women in the Buckner UMC and which has now spread to nine other churches.

The purpose of the Baby Grace Ministry is to give young mothers the supplies, clothes and toys their newborns need to get off to a good start in life. The ministry also provides educational resources about parenting.
