351. MissionCast – An Imagine No Malaria Valentine

HaitiWith just $90 to go in reaching their goal of saving 500 lives in Africa by raising $5,000 for Imagine No Malaria, the children, youth and college age members of Oak Grove United Methodist Church decided to let loving hearts, that is “valentine’s hearts” push them over the top. Plus see how their superintendent, Rev. Steve Cox, is supporting their efforts.

350. MissionCast – WOW 2014 – Missouri Conference

HaitiWOW is an annual statewide United Methodist youth ministry gathering held at the convention center in Springfield, Missouri.

We like what Rev. Sharon Kichline wrote about WOW in the Webster Groves, First United Methodist’s newsletter:
It values the faith journey of our young people. It offers them a taste of a form of worship that they are not likely to experience in their own home church. It gives them permission to be noisy, hopping up and down, and singing at the top of their lungs about a God who loves them like crazy. They leave not only with great memories, but also with the power of the Holy Spirit still vibrating within them.

We are grateful to Holly Davis on our conference staff for providing us with these video highlight of WOW 2014.

309. YouthFest – Festival of Sharing

Save the date – October 18 & 19 – for YouthFest at the Festival of Sharing. YouthFest starts Friday night with a band and action and continues with service for the hungry of Missouri and the World on Saturday. The Festival of Sharing is held every year on the third Saturday of October in Sedalia, Missouri at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Join with youth from all over the state for a day praise, service, fun and food. For more information contact info@umocm.com

College students from across the state traveled to Joplin during their Christmas break to serve.  Around 150 students from Missouri were joined by 40 from Arkansas.  They tore down houses, nailed siding, hung drywall, dug foundations and painted.
