MissionCast #116 is about Kid’s Place, a remarkable community outreach ministry developed by Brenda Stobbe, Program Director at University United Methodist Church, in St. Louis.  The program now in its 10th year has grown and matured into the kind of program that is making a real difference in the community that surrounds the church.  Kid’s Place Coordinator, Terry Chi, says that the two main focuses of the ministry are teaching literacy and civic and social responsibility.  Four days a week volunteers and staff meeting the kids at the nearby grade school, supervise some play time at the school and then walk them to the church for refreshments, a science project, a hearty meal and then an hour for homework and tutoring.  To learn more about the program you may calll University United Methodist Church and speak to Brenda Stobbe at (314) 863-8055.
